Lately I have been putting together busy bags for my kids to play with when they have to be quite for an extended period of time. You may be wondering what a busy bag is…it is basically a quiet learning activity that can be put into a small bag and will keep kids occupied for an extended period of time. I will show you some examples.
I love busy bags, and you might say I am addicted to making them. I keep a bag full of different busy bag activities in my car ready for whenever I need them. I don’t let my kids have them any other time, so that the novelty of them doesn’t wear off. Just the other day we were at church for a long meeting. There were no other kids there and so my kids were board. I ran to the car and got my bag of activites or busy bags and they were content to play quietly for the next 30-40 minutes. My kids are 4 and 1 1/2 and they love the busy bags. I will be sharing with you some of the examples that I have compiled over the last few months.
Here are some that have been a big hit with my kids:
- Lacing Cards
- Lock and Key busy bag
- Felt Board with Numbers and Shapes
- Nuts and bolts
- Snack Container with pompoms
- Word sticks
- Crayons and small notebook
- Large beads and string
- Puzzles
- Flashcards
