This craft is perfect for Christmas time. You can make ornaments out of them, or add them to a Christmas package. They also look great on wreaths or just in a basket.
My mom was just down last weekend and I asked her for the recipe so I could make some Christmas ornaments out of them. We used to always have these great smelling cinnamon decorations all over the house. What is great about them is that they can be perfect for Christmas or just anytime of the year!
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
- 1 cup cinnamon
- 1 Tbsp cloves
- 1 Tbsp nutmeg
- 3/4 cup applesauce
- 2 Tbsp Elmers glue
Mix all of the ingredients in a bowl. The dough will be very stiff. Kneed the dough until it is easy to roll out and not sticky. If the dough is too sticky add some more cinnamon until it rolls out easily.
Use cookie cutters to shape the dough, poke holes into the shapes before you dry them.
Lay on an ungreased cookie sheet and air dry for 4-5 days or bake in very low oven (200°) flipping over half way through, until hard. This method will take a few hours, and will make your house smell fabulous!
