Lacing Cards

I love to use everyday objects and turn them into fun learning activities for kids!  Most of the time you don’t need loads of money to make learning activities for kids.  Have you ever been at a birthday party where there is a great toy given as a gift, and all the child wants to play with is the box??!!  Kids like ordinary things, that you can make into something special.  A box can be a lot of fun things.  I made these lacing cards from a box that we had laying around.

These lacing cards are also part of my busy bag collection that I keep in my car at all times!

Difficulty: Easy

Supplies Needed

  • 1 piece heavy cardboard
  • scissors
  • hole punch
  • string or yarn

Directions

Draw desired shapes onto the cardboard.  I chose to do different shapes.  Cut out and punch holes into the cards every inch around the perimeter.

Tie the string onto one of the holes.

Use to teach fine motor skills, eye hand coordination, and shape recognition.  Great addition to a collection of busy bags!
