Playdough is so very easy to make and cheap too! Homemade playdough last longer than the store-bought kind. The best part about making your own playdough is kneading the warm dough right out of the pot. Skip the spa, just make some playdough.
Prep time: 5-10 minutes Difficulty: Easy
Supplies Needed
- 1 cup flour
- 1 tbsp oil
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup salt
- 2 tsp cream of tartar
- food coloring
Directions
Combine all ingredients in a medium saucepan. I let the kids mix it all together cold and once they've had their fill of mixing, I bring it to the stove.
Stir all ingredients over medium heat until a ball forms in the center. When you can no longer stir with a spoon, you are done. It will get very thick and start to look dry around the edges.
Turn onto a clean counter top or cutting board and knead with your hands until a smooth ball forms.
It will be hot so knead carefully! This is my favorite part...does wonders for your hands.
Store in an airtight container...mold and enjoy!
