Bagel chips make a great snack and are easy to make. Just recently I had a lot of bagels that were hard as a rock. There was nothing to be done with them but throw them out. So I decided to slice them up and see if I could make bagel chips out of them. They turned out great and after a few changes to the recipe they are our favorite snack.
My dad has always loved bagel chips and when he was down visiting me recently he was amazed at how wonderful they tasted. If you do use a whole dozen of bagels, it does make a lot!
Ingredients
- 1 dozen day old bagels
- Spices: garlic powder, onion salt, cracked black pepper, salt, Italian spices and parsley flakes
- 1/2 cup of parmesan cheese
- Olive oil
Directions
Using your food processor slice the bagel chips into slices and put in a large plastic bag.
Sprinkle all of the spices into the bag, enough to coat the bagels. Add the olive oil just enough so that the spices will stick. Seal the bag and shake to coat.
When they have enough seasonings for your taste lay them on a cookie sheet and place in a low oven (275° - 300°) until they are crispy. They will need to bake for about 20 - 30 minutes.
Place in sealed container and enjoy!!
Looks good Jessica! I love this site; even though I’m not the best cook. I was thinking maybe you could put this in the “Leftovers” category since it’s from old bagels. Hope you are feeling better.
Love,
Sarah T.
Hmm… I think the leftovers category was originally meant for anything not food related (like the ornaments). Maybe we should come up with a better name for it?
