BBQ Chicken

One of the great things about warmer weather is the joy of grilling. BBQ anything has always been one of my favorites. The stickier and messier they are the better they are. If it isn’t finger lickin good then it’s not BBQ chicken.

Hope you all enjoy, this is one of my favorites. And I usually double the recipe so that I have enough BBQ sauce to dip the chicken in too. You can never have enough BBQ sauce on your chicken. The recipe that follows is already doubled for you!


  • 4 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 onion finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic - crushed
  • 1 1/2 cups ketchup
  • 4 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 4 tbsp white wine vinegar
  • 4 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 4-5 lbs boneless skinless chicken breasts


Making the Sauce:

Heat oil in a medium saucepan over medium to high heat. Add the onions and garlic and saute until the onion is tender and aromatic.

Add the ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, water, and vinegar. Blend together, salt and pepper to taste.

Reduce the heat and let simmer for 15-20 minutes.

Set aside and let cool.

Use about 3/4 of mixture to marinade chicken in. Marinade for at least an hour or overnight in the refrigerator. Save the rest of the sauce for basting.

Chicken is best if cooked on the grill. Grill on medium-high heat until done. Basting occasionally with reserved BBQ sauce.
