Around the Christmas season my mom and I go all out with decorations, food and the like. For our Christmas dinner this year it was a small gathering of just my parents and brother, myself and my husband. The rest of my family was down south visiting relatives.
Even though we had a small gathering we still did not skip out on any part of the Christmas traditions. My mom made an amazing prime rib with many other side dishes and appetizers to accompany the feast. Some of the recipes I have already posted and the others will be soon to follow.
Not only is food a big deal but the centerpiece and the table settings are as well. This year we used my grandmothers fine china accented with gold chargers. My grandmother received this dish set as a gift when she was first married and it has now been passed down to my mom. Finally, the clove and orange arrangement that we placed in the center of the table added the last special touch.
- Whole cloves
- Straight pins
- Large Plate
- Small Pillar candle
This arrangement is a classic Christmas decoration that can be used in a variety of ways. It is also very fragrant as well as appealing to the eyes.
Using whole cloves, poke them into the oranges in a pattern or design. When you have finished the desired amount of oranges take a piece of ribbon and attach a bow to the top, securing it with a straight pin. Arrange the oranges on a large plate or charger and arrange greens around the oranges, placing a small pillar candle in the center. Now you have a simple and elegant centerpiece for the holiday season.
